Fri. May 27, 2011: Orchid Thieves will be playing the LiVE Lounge to compete for big bucks in development support. Our fans will play a major part in our success in this competition by being there, so please mark this day in your calendar and come and cheer us on! The show will be videotaped for judging via the internet.

Playing Canadiana presents Montreal's GLO with Orchid Thieves and In Prospect. Glo have been described as "excellent songwriters" with "amazing vocals" and "catchy chorus orchestration" by reviewers and we look forward to hitting the stage with them at Zaphod's in May. Tickets are a mere $6 at the door and showtime is 8:30.

Orchid Thieves is wrapping up recording of some new songs which we plan to release soon, and as always hope to hear your ruthless critiques. In the meantime, as we're planning to get back to the stage a.s.a.p., we're lining up some shows for the coming fall and winter. We're potty trained, we play well with others and we don't have any severe allergies so drop us a line if you want to share the stage sometime!

On Sunday July 4, 2010 come and check us out at Andrew Hayden Park! We'll be performing with some other great acts to celebrate Canada's birthday. We go on at 7:30pm and admission is free!

Two upcoming May shows!

Orchid Thieves will be performing on Victoria Day Long Weekend, Sunday May 23 at the Dow's Lake fun fair (it's at Juliana Park, near the Dow's Lake public parking lot). We'll be playing from 3pm to 4pm and it's free!!!

On Wednesday May 26, we're going to be competing for a chance to play at Canada Day in Barrhaven. It's at Greenfield's Pub on Greenbank and the show starts at 7pm. $5 gets you in and and proceeds go towards the Canada Day festivities. Greenfield's is family friendly and kids are welcome!

Welcome, Anthony!

It's official, Anthony Way picks up where Richard Nash left off on bass and has already joined us in the studio for two new songs which should be ready in a few weeks. We broke him in at the Live Lounge on January 15th and he seems to have survived to tell the story. Anthony comes to us after several years of service with The Adopted and we're really glad to have him.

Live 88.5 will be featuring our song "Dream Away" at least a couple of times this week: once Monday night at 8:20pm and then again during the 2:20pm weekday "Indie Spotlight" (don't yet know which day or days). This is part of the lead-up to our next show at the Live Lounge in the Market this Friday night (January 15th).

So if your in your car or near a radio during those spots, please tune in. And of course we'd be pleased as punch to see you at the show Friday night! It promises to be a great night out with four talented bands in the line-up (Orchid Thieves are up third), featuring headliners from Toronto, "The Apollo Effect." They're happening! 2009 Big Money Shot Final Wildcard

Well, it's our last kick at the can for this year's 'Big Money Shot' contest ($250K goes to the overall winner).

We had an outstanding showcase on September 18th and by far the best crowd response of the night -- a sincere THANKS to all who came out (and to those who tried: the ID police were out in full force that night!)

And so now, the FIVE BANDS WITH THE MOST VOTES between now and November 1st will perform in the Grand Final Wildcard event on Friday, November 6th. To vote for us, use your mobile phone to send text messages with our band name 'Orchid Thieves' to 885- 885 (50 cents per text)

Polls are NOW OPEN and close Sunday, November 1st at 5PM

Orchid Thieves can still get into the Round Final of Live 88.5's "Big Money Shot" contest, via a Wildcard selection process.

We put on an absolutely killer show on September 18th at the Live Lounge, and are convinced we were robbed!

If you think so too, simply text "Orchid Thieves" to 885885 on your mobile phone. It'll cost you fifty cents to vote but that money goes to support the contest and in turn, great local bands.

If we get the most votes, Orchid Thieves automatically snags $5,000 in development and a shot at $25,000 at the Round Final on Thursday, October 22nd. Round winners will then compete for $250,000!

Voting starts Saturday, Oct 10th at noon and ends Sunday, Oct 18th at 5pm. You can vote as many times as you want!!
